This week, we’ve continued to examine Mythic+, Raid, and PvP data. Considering last week’s tuning, there are some specs that could benefit from further adjustment, especially underperforming specs in Raiding and Mythic+. For PvP, our goal is to reduce overall defensiveness and healing while also increasing offensive capabilities for low performing specializations.

With scheduled weekly maintenance next week (September 1 in this region), we’re implementing a change to raid loot.
Bonus Rolls can only be used on encounters where the player is eligible to receive loot.
This means that on each difficulty, once a player has been locked out of receiving loot for the week, defeating a boss a second or subsequent time before the end of the week will not provide an opportunity for the use of a Bonus Roll. While this is a change in loot behavior from Season 1, we feel that it more closely aligns with how loot works in general, and will be healthier for the acquisition of loot overall.
During scheduled weekly maintenance this morning, we addressed issues affecting players who were missing Spark of Tides items.
Additional cleanup waves will happen throughout the week, which will resolve some rare cases in which players who were accidentally granted Sparks over the cap. Those players may have some removed.
Thank you for your patience!

First and foremost, we’d like to thank everyone who participated in raid testing on the PTR. Thanks to your testing, we were able to identify and fix several issues, including the first wave of attackers for the Horde base sometimes de-spawning, the wave counter UI at the top of the screen disappearing, and some boss abilities incorrectly targeting the tank.
We’re also adding extra tier token drops to bosses, just like we did previously. That increase was not on the PTR, but will be in place when the new raids open on Thursday, August 27 at 3:00 p.m. PDT (6:00 p.m. EDT).
One question we saw a bit was asking for clarity on our previously-posted statement “We will plan to make other Phase 3 loot changes to heroic dungeon bosses in Phase 3.” As some players correctly concluded, that was intended to call out the Phase 3 changes that players are already familiar with, such as the Epic Gems. We do not have any surprise additional loot changes in the works.
As a reminder, Arena Season 3 starts with the weekly reset next week – that’s the morning of September 1 in this region.
We’ll see you there!

I am unable to zone into the new raid with my guild. I logged in late while they were on boss 6 so I suspect that there is a phasing issue.
I was unable to be summoned in and I was unable to walk in the door. I see the raid loading screen, then the silvermoon loading screen and am instead teleported to silvermoon (as if I tried to get to an inaccessible area) and my guildies see me as a “hostile” target. Both summoning and walking in did this.

With the first week of the Curse of Ula’tek content update, we’re making some adjustments to low and high performers to start Season 2 next week. We’ve identified several tier sets that would greatly overperform our expected targets if we didn’t make targeted adjustments to bring their throughput to more expected power levels. At the same time, we’re increasing affected specs baseline abilities to limit the impact of the changes to their tier set bonuses.

With the launch of Curse of Ula’tek, the first major content update for Midnight, we’re sharing an updated look at our class tuning roadmap for Season 2.
The Curse of Ula’tek content update brings a broad set of class updates along with the opening of the Coiled Isle and its new challenges. As we monitor class performance across the Venomous Abyss, Mythic Keystone dungeons, PvP, Delves, and other endgame activities, we will use a combination of internal data and player feedback to identify opportunities for targeted adjustments, while preserving the strengths and gameplay identity of each specialization.
Our next planned tuning pass will arrive with the start of Midnight Season 2 on August 18, when Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties of the Venomous Abyss open and the new Mythic+ and PvP season begins. We expect to follow with additional adjustments after reviewing the first full week of live Season 2 data.
Thereafter, we will continue to evaluate balance as players progress through PvP, Mythic difficulty, push higher Mythic Keystone levels, and acquire Season 2 class sets and optimized gear. Early progression tuning will generally be conservative, especially before Ula’tek has been defeated on Mythic difficulty, to avoid unnecessary disruption to competitive progression. That said, if we notice unhealthy trends begin to emerge, we’ll quickly develop tuning changes to ensure a more equitable start to the season. Once more representative data is available, we’ll make broader adjustments where appropriate and schedule additional check-in passes throughout the season.
Our currently-planned tuning dates are listed below. Planned changes will be applied with scheduled weekly maintenance in each region.
August 18 - Midnight Season 2 begins
The item “Demystifyin’: Tailoring” did not provide any Midnight Tailoring Knowledge, it used the item and removed it from the vendor, without giving me anything.
Occured after using “Demystifyin’: Enchanting”, maybe using both in quick succession caused the tailoring knowledge to not be rewarded.

I just tried to run the Blinding Vale twice in heroic LFG and it kept bugging at the second boss, the Pedal Wings would not appear after the boss was killed. Could you look into this? Thanks!
This is the result of a bug affecting many dungeons and scenarios. We’re working to fix it as a top priority, and we’ll provide another update as soon as possible.

With a hotfix that is now live on all realms, we have addressed this issue. Now, once players are in combat with the boss, the queue should no longer look for additional players.

Greetings!
So, I reported this bug over a month ago, when blueprints became available for testing. Now, with one week before release, I returned to PTR to check if it was fixed, and it’s still there.
BE WARNED: As soon as the patch goes live, save full blueprints for both your houses! If you don’t and this bug hits you, you can lose your entire work with no way to revert it!
I hastily made a low-effort video showing the bug, but since I can’t post videos here, I also made the same post in the /wowhousing community in Reddit. If you want to check it out, just search for this post’s title.
This happens if you have a blueprint of ONLY exterior or ONLY interior. Having a full blueprint (exterior AND interior) and applying it entirely won’t cause this bug. Also, I didn’t encounter issues with room-only blueprints.
If you import an exterior blueprint, and then activate Edit Mode while on your interior, almost ALL your interior decor will be instantly removed, leaving your interior empty (only the rooms will remain).
Plus, if you import an interior blueprint, then activate Edit Mode while on your exterior, almost ALL your exterior decor will be instantly removed, leaving your exterior empty (only the house itself will remain).

Good luck!
The current Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary PvP season is coming to an end.
In this region, Season 2 will end at 10:00 p.m. PDT on Monday, August 17. (1:00 a.m. EDT Tuesday, August 18)
Burning Crusade PvP Season 3 will start with the weekly reset on Tuesday, September 1. At that time, Season 2 rewards will be distributed.
Have a good fight to the finish!
Starting tomorrow, Tuesday August 4 at, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (4:00 p.m. EDT), all housing dye items will be temporarily adjusted to become Warbound. This will not change how the items are created or used or purchased on the Auction House, but it will prevent players from posting any new housing dye auctions.
Our goal is to ensure that no housing dyes are up for sale on the Auction House during the deployment of the Curse of Ula’tek content update, to alleviate issues with the upcoming dye conversion.
After the Curse of Ula’tek content update goes live and all existing housing dye and housing dye pigment items are converted to the new housing dye items, players will once again be able to freely trade, sell, or auction the new housing dye items.
We appreciate your patience as we prepare for this changeover.

With the Curse of Ula’tek content update on the horizon, we’ve prepared an outline of details players may want to know about the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2.
Here’s a rundown of the entire content update.
As in previous seasons, Midnight Season 1 competitive PvP will end at 10:00 p.m. (22:00) the night before patch maintenance begins in each region. Season 1 Mythic+ dungeons will remain available, and achievements such as Cutting Edge and Ahead of the Curve can be obtained, until maintenance begins. When realms go into maintenance the week of August 11, Mythic+ and PvP percentile cutoffs will be calculated. When the game comes back online with the Curse of Ula’tek update, Midnight Season 2 will be underway in a pre-season state, with certain content and rewards not yet available.
During the pre-season week, Delve difficulties 1-11 will be available, along with the “?” Nemesis difficulty. Bountiful Delves do not appear during the pre-season, and the maximum tier of rewards available from Delves will be Adventurer 3/6 gear and Veteran Crests.
New outdoor features such as Curse Surges and Vaults of Atal’Utek are available during the pre-season. Pinnacle Caches drop Season 2 Veteran gear and appear during the pre-season week. Hard Prey is available during the pre-season and drops Season 2 Veteran gear.

On July 21, three Classic Hardcore realms in North America were impacted by a malicious DDoS attack, resulting in the deaths of some player-characters.

Restorations are now complete. Players who fit the above criteria should be able to log back into their character on the Hardcore realm.

As we mentioned, we internally monitored and confirmed a recent incident in which a World of Warcraft group gained an unfair advantage by abuse of access to development-only spells on a live realm. Our tools confirmed what was also surfaced in community discussions, and we have investigated the incident carefully. We can confirm that this was the action of a single Blizzard employee, in violation of our Code of Conduct. This employee is no longer with the company effective immediately. We are also taking action against the player accounts that were complicit in this violation.
It has always been the case that a small number of Blizzard employees can use developer tools and spells on live servers: this lets us test and make urgent fixes to the live game when they’re needed. Every use of these internal spells and commands on live realms is logged and shared with our Platform Security team to help ensure that the occasional use of this access is warranted. The use of development tools for anything other than development work is against company policy. It’s because of the process we have in place around use of these tools that we’re confident this incident was isolated to one individual.
We want to thank those of you in the WoW community who reached out with information and real concern for the integrity of the game, as well as the community sites that are also working to remove the results of this violation from their records. When your findings line up with ours, it helps confirm that our own tools are catching what they should, and we’re grateful for the way we work alongside you all to protect the game and each other.
Greetings!
The raid testing schedule is very fluid and subject to the realities of a test environment. There’s the possibility of having to change the time of a testing session, change the bosses being tested, or cancel a test entirely due to bugs, server hardware issues, etc.
Multiple vendors are set up on the PTR in Silvermoon City, Stormwind and Orgrimmar to allow players to quickly and easily test out end-game content (Profession Vendors and Trainers, Class Set Vendors, PvP Gear Vendors, and Trinket Vendors).
Keep an eye on the PTR forum for the encounter feedback threads and the latest information. Thank you in advance for testing and providing feedback.

Demon Hunter Developers’ notes: Both Devourer and Havoc Demon Hunters have been more difficult to land kills against than intended. Glimpse now reduces damage taken by 25% (was 35%) while airborne after using Vengeful Retreat.

During this week of PTR testing I did this dungeon 7 times. I think there some issues with the difficulty as well as issues with the pacing of the dungeon. I think its about one key level harder than the other keys on the PTR. Now this could change but, pugs were struggling on this on PTR and I expect it to be a menace on live for more casual players. I know two title level teams that are not pushing next season in part because of this dungeon.
Hopefully blizz makes it fun but I felt like I could give them ideas

Please share any feedback you have about your experience in The Venomous Abyss (Normal) in this thread.
Noting the nature of your group (pre-made vs. guild), the size of your raid, and the class/spec you played can also provide great context for your feedback.

During the test period you’ll be able to acquire and customize Mythic Keystones by talking to the Keystone Vendor in Stormwind, Orgrimmar and Silvermoon. The nearby Dungeon Teleports NPC will assist you with transportation. This NPC will now also appear at the beginning of each dungeon on Mythic difficulty who can teleport players back to a capital city.

Looking at players’ gear in Midnight Season 1, improved by upgrades, Voidcores, and powerful loot that became available in 12.0.7, we need to make sure that Season 2 is offering meaningful upgrades to players as they embark upon their journey through their preferred content.
Based on early PTR feedback, it’s clear that a 39-iLvl increase wasn’t quite enough to hit the mark there, so we’re shifting everything up 7 additional iLvls, making Season 2 rewards a 46-iLvl increase.
This update has been applied to the Curse of Ula’tek PTR today, and is now available for testing.
Based on your feedback, we’ve made some updates!
An all-new quest to introduce players to the space and the Altar of Corrosion.
A new flight network to mini-hubs within the vaults, so you can get from one end to another safely.
Movement and stealth abilities are now baseline—unlock upgraded versions at the Altar of Corrosion.
Flying as a ghost has been enabled in the area. No more long walks back to your corpse!

We’ve been paying close attention to the discussion around the Midnight Season 2 dungeon pool. Some of that discussion has focused on returning dungeons with pain points from past seasons, and some has focused on the unique mechanics in the Midnight dungeons. That feedback is useful, and it lines up with the work we do internally when building a season. We want to take this opportunity to share more about how we choose dungeons, how we update them for Mythic+, and what we’ve already done for Midnight Season 2.
When we begin choosing dungeons for a Mythic+ season, the first thing we look at is which dungeons might fit the theme of the upcoming update. Sometimes that means reconnecting players with a story, character, or place that is relevant to the game’s current story. With L’ura threatening the Sunwell in March on Quel’danas, it was a great time to bring that character back and show the start of her relationship with Alleria in Seat of the Triumvirate. Other times, it is more about shared themes, like the connection between trolls, snakes, and the Curse of Ul’atek. Not every dungeon needs to point at the same story or tone, though. A dungeon like Ruby Life Pools can help the pool feel more varied by giving players a change of pace from the patch’s main themes, as can a dungeon like Skyreach from Midnight Season 1.
From there, we think about the shape of the full pool. Each dungeon should bring something distinct, whether that is its theme, layout, pacing, visual style, or mechanical identity. We want the season to feel varied from key to key, with a strong mix of different places, different problems to solve, and different reasons to be excited about each dungeon in the pool.
Selecting a dungeon for a new season is a big commitment. We need to believe that the dungeon can contribute to the goals of the season, but we also must commit to addressing aspects of the dungeon that didn’t play out well last time it was featured in a Mythic+ season.

This is the story of how we got to the Dye Update in Curse of Ula’tek, streamlining dye crafting, reducing bag space requirements, fixing unintended color changes, and adding a bunch of new colors to use with all dyeable decor.
“These colors don’t match,” many players said after 12.0.5’s release. “This Obsidium Black isn’t as black. This Mesquite Brown isn’t as brown.”
We agreed, so we got to work.
Here’s how we got from those comments to the Dye Update that’s coming in Curse of Ula’tek.
When we were first building Housing, we knew we wanted crafting to be a significant part of decor collection. Crafting is a part of WoW and has been since the very beginning, and one of the core philosophies in Housing’s rewards design was “as if it had always been there”, which is how we got to putting all those retroactive rewards on old quests and achievements and added decor rewards to all those old gameplay bits. Dyes seemed a natural fit here as well, so all 62 colors became recipes that both alchemists and scribes could make.
We are currently able to repeat Sporefall. My guild plans to do this with a small group and then a large group, back to back.
Blizzard has not made a statement if this is intended or not, and there are articles coming out now saying this is an exploit that has resulted in account suspensions.
I see no topics here about account bannings or the like.
Blizzard should be required to make a clear post/statement about this current functionality and if it is indeed an exploit, and which part of the function is the exploit. -Is it solely the multiple Bonus Rolls similar to Heroic? -Is it the ability to kill the boss multiple times? -Is it both?
Has anyone been banned/suspended for doing this? Has Blizzard made a statement that I cannot find?

Was pretty close to leveling when I froze my XP last night at lvl 50, did a bunch of incursions without gaining xp.
Logged in this morning, turned in an incursion quest I forgot to the night before and leveled.
None of this is Blizzard’s fault…I should’ve realized the XP bar when I logged in this morning.
But why oh why is the XP freeze not frozen until you manually turn it back on like every other implementation of XP freezing that Blizzard has ever put out?
Edit: went back to the NPC and nowhere does it say you’ll have to do this every daily reset. would be a good disclaimer for others that might overlook it

Why was this not even on the PTR? Saving transmog sets in this new system costs over 3x as much in most cases. Just checked and it was 1480g to save 1 set. We’re deploying some tuning for tanks with scheduled weekly maintenance, as we feel that tanking has fallen behind our intentions for keeping up with the incoming damage in Mythic+. We’re focusing on two goals.
Increase passive mitigation to broadly reduce damage for tank specs that underperform in higher keys.
Increase uptime and effectiveness on some cooldowns. This should help underperforming specs to better cover periods of heavy damage.
We’re hopeful that these changes will help bridge the gap between tank specs, and we will continue to monitor and tune as necessary.
Death Knight Blood Developers’ notes: We are looking at smoothing out the damage intake of Blood outside of their cooldown window by increasing the consistency and uptime of their Apex Talent. To further help these windows of high damage intake we are also increasing their Health and Death Strike healing. Dancing Rune Weapon grants 25% Parry (was 20%). Blood Fortification grants 40% Stamina (was 35%). Improved Death Strike healing increased to 15% (was 5%). Dance of Midnight grants Dancing Rune Weapon for 8 seconds (was 6 seconds). Well this is a fun bug, and it’s so weird I don’t know if I can explain it right. I haven’t seen this one posted anywhere. I somehow manage to find the weirdest stupid bugs!
I decided to redo my library, which is made in an empty stairwell, and figured I’d attach a second empty stairwell (with a closet inbetween to avoid the known bug) on the 2nd floor of the existing library. That way if nothing I did was better than what I had, I could just keep the existing, and having it so close to the existing library made it easy to move elements I wanted to keep.
Since you know, we don’t have a save option yet.
So I got to the point where I knew I’d keep the new library, and set to moving all the attached rooms so I could delete the exiting library and put the new into place.
It all went exactly as I planned, I got almost everything put back into place, until I went to put one of the closets on the second floor (which is part of a window scene).
There is no second floor, it’s a blank void, and it shows there’s a third floor, but there’s nothing there.

In Housing, the floors are now reverting to the Folk Hardwood or Rugged Hardwood appearance, regardless of the setting, whenever the player logs out and back in, or leaves and comes back to the House.
This is similar to the “dark and light revert to medium” bug that afflicted Housing for months. (That one MIGHT be fixed as of today.)

Hello!
We want to follow up on our previous post about issues we encountered with the new Voidforge bonus roll system. The Voidforge system is a brand new system using new tech that enables players to earn their desired myth track gear utilizing a bonus roll currency called Nebulous Voidcores to improve the player experience of gearing during Season 1 of Midnight.
What Happened?
We tested the system on our internal environment to make sure it was working as intended and fix issues, but there was a subtle bug we missed that we can now see was a result of a limitation in our internal test environment.
This new bonus roll system is intended to work like this: every time you use your Nebulous Voidcore on an additional piece of endgame loot, whether in Mythic+ Dungeons, Raids, Bountiful Delves, or Prey, it saves a record of the piece of loot and checks it off a list tied to your character, so that you shouldn’t receive the same piece of loot again. After we launched 12.0.5 (and before we fixed the bug), when players queued with other players into M+ dungeons, Bountiful Delves or Raids, it was possible for the roll data to sometimes save to the wrong database, leading to duplicate rolls.
How Could That Happen?
We’ve re-enabled Void Incursions (the major attack portion of Void Assaults) following the deployment of our fix for the issue, and we’re seeing good results.
Thank you for your patience, and good luck defending Zul’Aman!
We’ve discovered a new issue with Void Assault Incursions (the major attack), and while we investigate and design a fix for it, we’re disabling Incursions.
The Void Incursions should wind down and cease over the next hour or so, and we’ll re-enable them as soon as we’ve got a fix for the underlying issue.
Thank you!
We’ve received reports of some game instability occurring on the PTR, most notably when changing zones or during the Siegecrafter Blackfuse fight in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid. We are currently investigating the issue.
We’ll have another Siege of Orgrimmar raid playtest soon, for additional testing.
Thank you for helping us test the raid.
We have recently sent out a large hotfix to address the issues for Unholy that came with the 12.0.5 update. Part of this change was updating Festering Scythe to be a buff on the player that increases their disease tick rate instead of a debuff on the target. The underlying issue here was proving to be problematic for a number of reasons and we felt like this would be the safest approach for now.
We will continue to monitor any potential issues and we appreciate the patience and understanding.
Updated 12:15 p.m. PDT April 24
About an hour ago, we enabled the Midnight Keystone Myth Achievement, and it has been going out to players who qualified.
–
In the 12.0.5 patch, we’re introducing the new achievement Midnight Keystone Myth - Season One. This new achievement rewards a saddle that can be exchanged for a mount of your choice once you’ve attained a Mythic+ Rating of at least 3400 during Midnight Season 1.
At this time, we’re working to fix a bug with the new achievement and we’ve disabled it in this region (The Americas and Oceania).
We’re working to enable the achievement as soon as possible, and when the fix is deployed, all players who qualify will receive the achievement. Thank you for your patience!

With hotfixes that began rolling out a couple of hours ago and are now applicable in all instances, we’ve preliminarily addressed a bug in 12.0.5 where rolling on loot did not remove the received item from the pool for subsequent Bonus Rolls, which made it possible for players to receive the same item from a Bonus Roll.
It is now safe to roll on loot. Newly rolled items will now correctly remove the item from the bonus pool.
We’ll have more information to share tomorrow about this issue and the next steps we’re taking to remediate the situation for affected players.
Thank you very much for your feedback and understanding.
During our routine testing with realms offline to deploy the new patch, we discovered a critical bug in Housing that would cause unacceptable errors for some players.
Fixing this bug is a top priority for us, and while we work on it, we’ve decided to open realms on patch 12.0.5 with Housing and Neighborhoods disabled in this region (The Americas and Oceania).
Once we have a fix developed and tested, we will perform an additional brief maintenance in this region to bring Housing back online for everyone.
Thank you very much for your patience and understanding.
The current Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary PvP season is coming to an end.

Have a good fight to the finish!
The Hall of Fame for The Voidspire is now full, and we will close it for further entries with the next weekly reset (tomorrow) in each region. Congratulations to all who made it, and good luck to all of those who are pushing to complete The Voidspire in the next few hours!
I had a massive seizure last night due to the teleporters inside the voidspire raid. When you use them it causes a sudden shift from the darkness of the void around you to a VERY BRIGHT flash spiral screen. I am not typically photosensitive with my epilepsy, so this came as a huge surprise. I DO have photosensitivity mode on. It makes no difference. There is no reason that this TELEPORTER needs to have this effect. This could literally be a matter of someone DYING because of lack of accessibility features or a VERY specific warning. Along with me, I am told that there were several other light sensitive folks in the raid that needed a moment after that flash screen as well.
THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED IMMEDIATELY FOR THE SAFETY OF EPILEPTIC AND LIGHT SENSITIVE PLAYERS, OR A SPECIFIC WARNING NEEDS TO BE ADDED FOR THIS RAID.

Update April 15, 7:15 p.m. PDT
Yesterday, we implemented the hotfixes described above to support core gameplay in instances in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary. Unfortunately, these changes were impaired by bugs that did not appear in our pre-release testing. The result was unintended behavior of drops for both solo and group players. For example: one bug resulted in some players becoming completely disallowed from rolling on loot.
With an update we sent to the live game a few minutes ago, we have reverted the original changes while we investigate these bugs.
Thank you for your feedback.
We’ve observed a significant number of Burning Crusade players entering dungeons and then participating in no meaningful gameplay, often while only one party member plays through the instance. When this is prominent, it can lead to detrimental economic effects, among other concerns, so we’re implementing a series of hotfixes to address it.

Greetings!
With the release of patch 12.0.5, we’re introducing two new achievements for players pushing the upper limits of Mythic+: Keystone Myth and Umbral Champion: Midnight Season One.
If you’ve already completed the existing milestones and are looking for additional goals to pursue, Keystone Myth and Umbral Champion are intended to offer that next step.
Upon reaching 3400 Mythic+ rating, players will earn a Timelost Saddle (earned once per warband per season). This item can be brought to Lindormi in Silvermoon or the Timeways, where it can be exchanged for a mount of your choice from a curated selection. This includes Keystone Master and Keystone Legend mounts from previous seasons, as well as all new mounts being added to the pool.
We want to give dedicated Mythic+ players something that continues to feel rewarding over time, while also creating a path to revisit some older rewards you may have missed along the way.
